1. There is town in Maine called Derry.
2. Over its history, many awful things have happened in Derry, including a high frequency of child murders and/or disappearances, that are all happening due to the malign influence of a malevolent entity living in the town’s sewers.
3. In 1958, a group of seven children all have encounters with It, and then band together in order to fight It as well as their local evil greaser bully who is under It’s influence.
4. In 1985, when the murders start again, six of them have to reunite in order to fight It once more.
5. They succeed both times, because nothing improves a 1000-page novel like it having two plots that both have the same ending.
